Late Sunday night, the college football internet world nearly exploded when word began to spread that, in addition to former USC head coach Lane Kiffin, former Trojans interim head coach Ed Orgeron would be heading to Tuscaloosa to join the Alabama Crimson Tide staff as defensive line coach.
As fun as that indeed was to think about, one of the more trusted folks in the college football media world, CBS’ Bruce Feldman, says don’t hold your breath, more or less.
Saw reports saying that Ed Orgeron is expected to join #Bama staff.. I am pretty sure that’s NOT gonna happen. Never was.

As opposed to Kiffin, who not many thought would be given a head coaching chance anywhere, anytime soon after what happened as USC, Orgeron proved with what he did this past season with the USC team he took over that he can absolutely be a head coach somewhere, and he still has the chance to grab that opportunity with a few openings that are still around.
Still, though, just imagining Coach O on the Alabama staff in our heads might be enough entertainment.
