Despite suffering a torn meniscus in mid-October, Florida Gators running back finished the season as the team’s third-leading rusher with 339 yards and two touchdowns. Jones missed the remainder of the season following his injury and now the team has learned that he will be out even longer.
According to Gators head coach Will Muschamp, Jones will undergo surgery to repair his meniscus and the recovery will keep him out of action throughout the spring.
Jones will miss out on learning a new offense while he was recovering, after Florida hired former Duke offensive coordinator Kurt Roper to take over the same position with the Gators. It is unfortunate that Jones will miss out on valuable learning time, but he is talented enough to step right in when he is healthy enough to return.
Florida will also be without linebackers Alex Anzalone and Jeremi Powell and Matt Rolin, who are recovering from injuries of their own.
