Free agent pitcher Ervin Santana had a bit of a career resurgence this past season with the Kansas City Royals and he’s hoping to cash in on it.
Earlier this offseason, Santana reportedly was commanding a deal well over $100 million dollars – a deal thought to be relatively laughable, especially considering Santana comes with draft pick compensation attached.
His demands coupled with the compensation have left him sitting in the free agent pool, though that could be changing in the near future.
According to FOX Sports, the New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and Minnesota Twins have all requested medical records on the veteran pitcher:
Ken Rosenthal goes on to suggest the Yankees were only doing their ‘due dilligence’ in regards to Santana as they don’t believe his fly-ball pitching style would work well in their home stadium.
Regardless, all three teams have been said to be interested in singing another starter and Santana is one of the best remaining arms available.
