Greetings! It’s Monday morning, and each and every week, we bring you the latest look at the always entertaining race for the NBA’s Most Valuable Player Award. This week featured an enormous groundswell toward a shake-up at the top (stay tuned to find out what happened) while life adjusts to the absence of one of the leading candidates due to injury. There is at least one new face among the group, but by the time we reach January, it is about positioning more than anything, as the cream rises to the top.

For reference, the MVP “criteria” used here is the most literal sense of the word, and team success (while certainly a factor) doesn’t include or exclude any prospective candidate from the proceedings. Without further ado, let’s get it going!
