University of Oregon to give out Phil Knight bobbleheads at Feb. 1 game

If you’ve always felt your collection of CEO bobblehead dolls was lacking a crucial figure(ine), you’re in luck. As part of “Appreciation Knight,” the University of Oregon will be handing out bobbleheads of Nike co-founder Phil Knight when the Ducks host the USC Trojans at Matthew Knight Arena on February 1.

GoDucks.com has the official statement:

The University of Oregon Athletic Department has launched a “Phil It UP” campaign with the goal of honoring one of the University’s greatest alumni by selling out Matthew Knight Arena for the Ducks’ Feb. 1 game versus USC.

The Athletic Department has named the game “Appreciation Knight” and will honor Phil Knight, as the Nike co-founder celebrates his 76th birthday.

All fans in attendance will receive a one-of-a-kind Phil Knight souvenir bobblehead.

(My suggestion for Oregon: pump a little more money into the pun department, because “Phil it UP” and “Appreciation Knight” are re-PUN-gnant.)

Oh, and that’s not all. Fans of Knight can actually sign a birthday card for him at Happy Birthday Uncle Phil. The deadline for signing the card is Wednesday, so act fast.
