The 2013 Iron Bowl between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers may have been the game of the year as the Tigers knocked off the two-time reigning BCS National Champions in dramatic fashion and that win had far-reaching consequences that involved members of Alabama’s government.

Alabama state Senator Roger Bedford made good on his bet with state Senate President and Auburn alum Del Marsh on the first day of the 2014 legislative session with Bedford, the Alabama alum donning a war eagle hat.

Auburn’s win in the Iron Bowl clinched the SEC west title and a berth in the SEC Championship Game where they racked up 59 points in the victory over the Missouri Tigers, but ultimately their Cinderella season fell 13 seconds shy of their second national title in four years when Florida State won on a last-second touchdown pass.

Bedford was a good sport, but to make sure he is reelected for his next term he made sure to close out his session with a “Roll Tide”, according to AL.com’s Mike Cason.
