One of the top QB prospects for 2014, Booker T. Washington’s Treon Harris, is set to take an official visit to the Auburn Tigers on Jan. 24. What makes this even more interesting is the fact that Harris is a verbal commit to the Florida State Seminoles, the team the Tigers just narrowly fell to in the BCS National Championship Game.
Harris is a four-star, dual threat signal caller according to 247 Sports, and is coming off a season in which he led his team to a perfect 14-0 record and a secured spot at number one in the USA TODAY high school football rankings.
When asked about the prospects of taking his talents to the SEC, Harris absolutely took notice of how well Gus Malzahn’s offense runs, as if that wasn’t clearly evident this past season during their magical run to the title game.
“When I take an official visit there I’ll see how good of a school it is,” Harris told 247Sports of Auburn. “Their offense does a good job following the game plan and they have good wide receivers. I’ve been talking to coach Lashlee quite a bit lately. He’s telling me Auburn is a great school with a great education.”
Harris’ skill set would be a dangerous asset in the Auburn offense, probably even more so than another 2014 quarterback they have coming in in Sean White.
Malzahn and Auburn may not have won on the field last Monday, but this would undoubtedly be a win over the Seminoles on the recruiting trail.
