Wilmer Cabrera’s Chivas USA got a major boost when famed Mexican international forward Adolfo Bautista was signed to a contract, pending the arrival of his International Transfer Certificate. Per league and club policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Bautista, 34, is in the tail end of his career, which included stops in Queretaro and San Luis. El Bofo’s biggest break came in 2004 with Chivas Guadalajara, where he helped lead the Rebaño Sagrado to two finals, including the 2006 title under the guidance of former Mexican national team coach Jose Manuel “Chepo” de la Torre. He also was a major figure in Chivas Guadalajara’s 2010 Copa Libertadores run.

As a member of El Tri, Bautista earned 38 caps and 11 goals and took part in the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. El Bofo was also part of the Mexican national team sides that competed in the 2004 and 2007 Copa America tournaments.
