Former Oakland Raiders head coach Tom Cable’s name wasn’t one that was running rampant after all of the coaching moves following the end of the NFL regular season. Actually, the only time that his name was really brought up was for the vacant Detroit Lions job, which has still yet to be filled.
But, that doesn’t mean he believes that he’ll never get the opportunity to head up another organization on the field again.
In speaking to Alex Marvez and Gil Brandt on Sirius XM radio, Cable says he still has hope that his day will come again.
“I think the shot will come,” Cable said Tuesday night. “I’ve been told that a number of times. . . . I’ll be a head coach again someday, just when the right owner and organization wants a tough style and a demanding style and discipline and all those things that go with it. . . . When that opportunity comes, I’ll be ready for it, and we’ll be successful.”
Currently, Cable is the offensive line coach for the Seattle Seahawks as they continue to make a potential run toward the Super Bowl.
