Courtesy of Gio Gonzalez‘s Instragram, he threw his first bullpen session of the year today.
His catcher? The retired Jorge Posada. Gonzalez posted a picture and a video on his Instragram account.
Gonzalez has been ridiculously consistent in his career. For the last four seasons he has made at least 32 starts and posted a sub-4.00 ERA. In 2013 he went 11-8 with a 3.36 ERA, 3.41 FIP, and a solid 8.8 K/9.
The Nationals will have World Series aspirations again in 2014 in no small part because of the guys in their starting rotation: Gonzalez, Stephen Strasburg, Doug Fister, and Jordan Zimmerman. As Gonzalez prepares for the season, a session with an all-time great catcher isn’t a bad place to start.
