LSU running back Alfred Blue is joining teammate and fellow back Jeremy Hill in the NFL Draft. Blue, another impressive physical prospect is part of a trend in Baton Rouge where talented backs are going to the NFL without a ton of carries on their bodies, which is good, but not a lot of ability to prove themselves, which is not good. Blue ran into some problems and ultimately got buried on the depth chart, but the NFL has been happy to pick these guys up and find spots for them.
Blue, like Hill probably had their blessing and may have been pushed out the door a little bit by incoming freshman Leonard Fournette. Hill had initially planned to go back to LSU before recently deciding to declare and now Blue has left. Fournette is regarded by many as the top back in high school and a huge coup for the Bayou Bengals, so Blue and Hill may have seen the writing on the wall and the carries going to Fournette, so they opted to go pro. Blue makes the 7th LSU Tiger to declare for the NFL Draft this year after 10 went last year.
