To say the 2013 was a disappointment for Los Angeles Angels outfielder Josh Hamilton would be a severe understatement.
Hamilton, who left the Texas Rangers to sign a five-year, $125 million dollar contract with Anaheim hit just .250, clubbing 21 home runs and knocking in 79 in 151 games.
Of course, that wouldn’t be a bad season for most but from an MVP candidate making $25 million dollars annually – you want more.
Hoping to avoid a repeat performance, Hamilton added twenty pounds this offseason:
#Angels Josh Hamilton has gained 20 pounds this winter, back to where he was in Texas prime
I’m going to assume the added weight is in muscle – though there doesn’t appear to be a specification of such.
Hamilton lost the weight during last offseason and struggled to put it back on during the year, so he’s hoping the added bulk will assist in a return to form.
How effective the weight gain will be remains to be seen, but given his woes last season, I’m sure Hamilton is open to anything at this point.
