Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.com (@jcrasnick) reports that the previously ‘undisclosed’ team that Nyjer Morgan was in discussions with is the Cleveland Indians. Morgan has signed a minor league deal without a roster invitation.
Morgan spent 2013 in Japan, playing for the Yokohama Bay Stars of the Central League of Nippon Professional Baseball. He batted .294 with 11 home runs over 108 games.
Prior to that he played with the Milwaukee Brewers, batting .276 with 7 homers and stealing 25 bases. He will add to the considerable depth that the Indians have acquired even after trading Drew Stubbs. Crasnick says that he can earn over one million dollars if he makes the big league team and meets certain incentives.
