It looks like quarterback Jameis Winston won’t be the only two sport athlete from the state of Alabama on the Florida State Seminoles‘ football team.
Freshman defensive back Marquez White, who also spent some time at wide receiver during the season, has decided to join the basketball team. He’ll suit up when the Seminoles take on the rival Miami Hurricanes at 9:00 pm EST Wednesday night.

White is probably best known for his hair style that was on display during last week’s 34-31 victory over the Auburn Tigers in the BCS National Championship game, but he was a highly touted prospect in both football and basketball. White was considered a four-star athlete in the class of 2013 and he eventually chose the Seminoles over two instate powers, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers, among others.
White played sparingly for the Seminoles as a freshman as they tried to lock down a position for him. He finally settled into a role at cornerback and on special teams and finished the season with 12 tackles an an interception.
White was also an excellent basketball player at Northview High School in Dothan, Alabama. As a high school senior, he averaged 19.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 4.5 assists per game.
