The Louisiana Tech bulldogs were dealt some crushing news on Wednesday as they learned that their leading scorer, guard Raheem Appleby, will miss the next six to eight weeks as he suffered some severe ligament damage in his ankle, according to a report from the Shreveport Times.
Appleby injured the ankle last Thursday in the team’s 20-point win over FAU last Thursday. It was initially so severe, that Appleby had to be carted off the court on a stretcher.
It’s not known whether or not he’ll need surgery on the ankle at the moment, although this timetable may be a sign pointing toward that he indeed will.
This is a significant blow to the Bulldogs as they have quietly been having one of the best seasons of any team so far that no one has heard of.
They’re 14-3 overall and 2-0 in Conference-USA play. Also, they’re one of the top scoring teams in the country, ranking 7th in the nation with 85.9 points per game.
