Last week, LSU Tigers’ head coach Les Miles and offensive line coach Greg Studrawa parted ways after Studrawa spent seven seasons with the program. The Tigers said Studrawa was “leaving to pursue other opportunities.”
Miles thought it could take a while for the Tigers to find a new offensive line coach, but he’s filled the position much quicker than he or anyone else expected.
On Wednesday, The Advertiser reported the Tigers have hired Jeff Grimes.
LSU would not confirm the hire.
“We are hoping to announce a new offensive line coach on Friday,”LSU sports information director Michael Bonnette said.
Grimes is currently the offensive line coach and running game coordinator for the Virginia Tech Hokies. 2013 was his first year with the Hokies and their offense was, for the most part, a disaster, averaging just 119.8 rushing yards per game and struggling to an 8-5 record.
Grimes formerly was the offensive line coach with the Auburn Tigers from 2009-2012. He’s also coached with the Boise State Broncos, Arizona State Sun Devils, BYU Cougars and Colorado Buffaloes.
