MLB Rumors: Texas Rangers interested in Paul Maholm

The Texas Rangers are in need of pitching after starter Derek Holland suffered an injury that will likely keep him out through at least the All-Star break.

Of course, the Rangers understandably don’t want to break the bank for such a pitcher – so they’re likely out on guys like Ervin Santana, Ubaldo Jimenez or even Matt Garza, who finished the season with Texas.

More likely, the Rangers will need to check the bargain bin, which is where they could find somebody like Paul Maholm who they’ve apparently recently contacted.

Maholm, who most recently pitched for the Atlanta Braves wasn’t anything special during the 2013 season though would serve as an adequate replacement for Holland moving forward.

Of course, Texas isn’t the only team with eyes on Maholm as it’s been reported both the Minnesota Twins and Baltimore Orioles have looked at signing the veteran arm in recent weeks – though movement there has apparently stagnated.
