Jermichael Finley missed the rest of the Green Bay Packers season after suffering a scary neck injury against the Cleveland Browns. But while there were questions about whether or not Finley would ever walk again, let alone play football, the free agent tight end isn’t looking to take a discount on his next contract just because he suffered a neck injury.

According to Green Bay Press-Gazette, Finley is going to seek out a big contract and isn’t allowing his season-ending neck injury to cost him money.

"At some point, the Packers and team doctor Patrick McKenzie will evaluate Finley and decide whether or not to invest long term. In a recent interview with ESPN, Finley suggested he’s not looking to take a discount because of the injury."

It shouldn’t come as that big of a surprise that Finley wants big money this offseason, as he was looking for such a deal last offseason. Another motivating factor in Finley asking for a big contract could be that he’s experienced what it’s like to flirt with not being able to play or walk ever again, and he’s looking to set himself up like never before.

Finley is still a top tight end in the NFL and the Packers clearly missed him this season when he was out. But his neck injury is going to lower his price, whether he wants that to happen or not.
