Quarterback Michael Brewer announces he's leaving Texas Tech

Another day, another quarterback departing from Lubbock.

Texas Tech Red Raiders quarterback Michael Brewer announced Wednesday that he’ll be transferring to another program. The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Brewer threw for 375 yards and four touchdowns in limited action in 2012, but a serious back injury over the summer prevented him from competing for the starting job in 2013.

Brewer issued an official statement through the school:

I am honored to receive my degree from Texas Tech and will always call this university home. Wherever I may go, I hope our fans will respect the person and player that I am. The decision to transfer was well thought out by my family and myself and was one of the toughest of my life. I feel it’s the right decision for me moving forward. As always, Guns Up! (ESPN)

Brewer is the second quarterback to leave the Texas Tech program in the last month. 2013 starter Baker Mayfield has already left the school and enrolled at Oklahoma, leaving the Red Raiders with only one quarterback (Davis Webb) on scholarship.
