Rangers' Derek Holland says teammates have made fun of him for injury

The Texas Rangers starting rotation took a hit with the news that starting pitcher Derek Holland injured his left knee. The injury will hold him out till at least the All Star Break. It was a bizarre injury as well with an interesting story.

“I was running around with the dog and took off up the stairs,” said Holland, via the Dallas Morning News. “He chased me and ran up under me and undercut me, and I slammed my head on the steps.

“It could have been worse. I could have cracked my head open. I was doing a typical guy thing, clowning around with the dog thing, and this happened.”

It sounds laughable and some have gone as far as to question whether it is legitimate or not. Holland said his Rangers teammates have been teasing him about the bizarre injury.

“I’ve kind of gotten a mixed amount of that, but if they didn’t tease me, they’d probably tell me they hated me, but I appreciate all the guys reaching out to me and everything. It’s definitely different,” said Holland, via the Dallas Morning News. “You don’t ever want to be on this end of it.”
