New York Yankees shortstop and captain, Derek Jeter, finally had some words to offer up on Wednesday regarding the ongoing sage between his organization and suspended teammate Alex Rodriguez.

Jeter, one of the few people that we have yet to hear from regarding all of this, had some not so happy words to offer up about the live-action soap opera that’s been taking place.

“As a teammate, you’re saddened by the whole thing,” Jeter said, according to the New York Post. “The whole thing has been kind of messy.”

The Yankee living legend was speaking at an event in Tampa for his Turn 2 Foundation when he was finally able to answer some limited questions about the drama.

Before their time in New York together, while Rodriguez was spending his playing time in Seattle and Texas, the two were said to be the best of friends. However, since Rodriguez joined the Yanks in 2004, their relationship has hit some snags here and there.

Jeter also wouldn’t comment on the possibility of Rodriguez showing up at Spring Training, as he said he intends to.
