The Arkansas Red Wolves Football program is mourning the loss of one of their teammates. Markel Owens, a defensive lineman, along with another man were killed with a third person, a woman injured that was taken to the hospital where she was treated and released. The incident took place Wednesday night in Jackson, Tennessee, where Owens was born and raised.
The shooting took place when bullets were sprayed into the side of a duplex. Police were still combing the area for the shooter Wednesday night. Police would not give any details about the victims, but a neighbor indicated that the house was inhabited by a man, wife and their college-aged son. The police were looking into reports that the shooter was also injured and on his way to the hospital.
There has been an outpouring of support from Owens’ teammates on twitter, who just finished his redshirt junior season with Arkansas State. Owens would have turned 22 next month. Thoughts and prayers to his friends and family in this incredibly difficult time.
