Boston Celtics confirm Rajon Rondo to make season debut vs. Lakers

The worst kept secret in the NBA has finally been confirmed. Boston Celtics point guard Rajon Rondo will make his season debut against the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday evening.

Rondo, who earlier on Monday sent out a cryptic tweet with nothing more than ’29,233,380 seconds’ has been rumored to be returning for a few weeks now, though general manager Danny Ainge confirmed the speculation this morning.

Boston Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge confirmed the worst-kept secret in the NBA: Barring any setback, Rajon Rondo will make his 2013-14 season debut on Friday night against the Los Angeles Lakers.

Of course, how long Rondo will be playing for the Celtics is another argument.

Rumors leaked earlier this week suggesting that the Celtics, in a re-building phase, may look to trade Rondo once he returns to health.

Friday’s game against the Lakers will be the first for Rondo since suffering an ACL injury nearly a year ago. Understandably, Rondo will be worked into the Celtics rotation slowly.
