Critics Choice Awards 2014: Adele Exarchopulos wins Best Young Actress (Video)

While it was shut out of an Oscar completely, Blue is the Warmest Color is one of the best films of the year and a lot of that has to do with the powerful and brave performance of it’s young star. French actress Adele Exarchopulos took home the Critics Choice Award for Best Young Actress, and she was more than deserving.

Blue is the Warmest Color definitely tackled a tricky and controversial subject for American audiences as not only is it a film about lesbian lovers, but the film features some pretty graphic sexual images, something that likely turned voters off.

Exarchopulos was phenomenal in the role, and her exclusion from other award consideration is one of the more aggressive sins of omission for the 2013 movie season.

Still, like Lupita Nyong’o, Exarchopulos is on the rise and while she was shut out of the Oscars, this likely isn’t the last we’ve heard from her or her career.
