Critics Choice Awards 2014: Cate Blanchett wins Best Actress (Video)

Woody Allen is a titan in filmmaking and is a name that is always mentioned above all others he works with. That’s partly why Cate Blanchett’s role in Blue Jasmine is garnering so much praise as not only is it an amazing performance, but she’s so good that we forget Woody Allen made the film.

Here’s a quick synopsis of Blue Jasmine:

A New York socialite (Cate Blanchett), deeply troubled and in denial, arrives in San Francisco to impose upon her sister. She looks a million, but isn’t bringing money, peace, or love.

It’s hard to say it’s the role of Blanchett’s career, as she’s had so many fantastic roles, but her performance in Blue Jasmine is a powerhouse to say the least.

Blanchett is the clear favorite to win the Oscar for Best Actress and while there’s competition in her category, she’s likely going to add Oscar winner to her accolades from 2013.
