At UFC Fight Night 35, Derek Brunson and Yoel Romero squared off on the main card on FOX Sports 1. The fight earned Brunson and Romero Fight of the Night honors and a $50,000 bonus each.
Brunson was controlling the fight for most of the first two rounds, before Romero came out guns blazing in the third round to score the TKO finish after brutalizing Brunson with on the feet and with some vicious ground-and-pound.
After the fight, UFC president Dana White revealed that Brunson suffered a broken jaw during the loss that would require surgery.
He shared the details on Twitter.
Just went to the hospital to see @DerekBrunsonMMA he has a fractured jaw. He is waiting to have surgery.

The fight was the third straight win for Romero, who became the first fighter in UFC history to score back-to-back third-round wins.
Romero now stands at 7-1 with all seven wins coming by way of knockout and it will be interesting to see who the UFC matches him up with next. Despite his age, Romero could find himself challenging for a UFC title if he continues putting his opponents to sleep.
