PGA Tour: Patrick Reed leads after round one of the Humana Challenge

The Humana Challenge in partnership with the Clinton Foundation kicked off today with plenty of birdies.  Patrick Reed has a one stroke lead after a flawless nine-under 63 at PGA West (Palmer).  Reed won the Wyndam Championship last August for his first PGA Tour win.

Four players are tied for second place at eight-under par.  Daniel Summerhays and Justin Hicks both shot 64 at PGA West (Nicklaus).  Ryan Palmer made 10 birdies and two bogies at the Palmer Course for his 64, and Charley Hoffman shot a flawless 64 at La Quinta Country Club.

There are three courses in the rotation this week with a cut occurring after 54 holes.  The final round will take place at PGA West (Palmer) on Sunday.

Seven players are tied for sixth at seven under par.  Zach Johnson and Bill Haas shot seven-under at La Quinta Country Club.

Other notable players are Justin Leonard (66), Rickie Fowler (68), and Keegan Bradley (69).

Defending champion Brian Gay shot three-under at La Quinta CC.

The cut line is at three-under par.  Expect the three round cut to get to last year’s number of 10-under par with the ideal weather conditions.
