Sochi Olympics 2014: Russian bobsledder is three-time arm wrestling champion

Many of the top athletes in the world will traveling to Sochi, Russia next month to participate in the 2014 Winter Olympics. However, one of the strongest competitors in the games appears to already reside in the host country.

Russian bobsledder Alexey Voyevoda is preparing to compete in his third Winter Olympics and medal for the third straight time. Voyevoda already has a bronze and silver medal, so he will be looking to add a gold to his collection. However, it appears that he already has three championship trophies on his mantle, but they are from a different sport.

As it turns out, Voyevoda, who is a raw vegetarian, is a three-time world champion in arm wrestling.

Arm wrestling is a very serious thing,” Voyevoda told the Moscow Times. “Many more countries practice arm wrestling than bobsleigh. I plan to return to arm wrestling after the Sochi Games. I have many options.

“I grew up in the mountains, and I would always climb trees with the other children. I was the fastest of the little tree-climbing monkeys. That is how I became strong.”

Let this be a lesson to all children.

If eat your vegetables while you are growing up, you too can be a world champion arm wrestler and Olympic bobsledder. Maybe.
