2014 Senior Bowl: Michigan State CB Darqueze Dennard will not play in game

Michigan State Spartans cornerback Darqueze Dennard will not play in the upcoming Senior Bowl in Mobile, according to a report from NFL.com.

Dennard is widely considered one of the top, if not the top, defensive backs in the 2014 NFL Draft, but apparently he’s decided to put his fate into the Combine and his pro day.

The senior was instrumental in leading one of the top defenses in the country for Michigan State this season, a year which culminated in an emotional Rose Bowl victory over the Stanford Cardinal, finally bringing the Spartans to the forefront of the national landscape.

Now as far as whether or not this is a good decision, that could go either way. While Dennard is highly regarded among the majority of the scouts, there are still some that question his speed, which is important to a lot of analyzers in today’s NFL world.

However, that’s nothing that he can’t make up in his pro day or at the Combine. If the subject of speed is in question, we’ll find that out when he runs his 40-yard dash. I certainly don’t think anyone can watch his tape and question his in-game ability.
