Arbitration: Brett Gardner reaches deal with Yankees

The Yankees continue to add to their payroll for 2014, coming to terms with center fielder Brett Gardner, according to Joel Sherman.

Gardner, who will figure to be a utility outfielder for the Yanks, will earn $5.6 million in 2014 after earning $2.85 million the year prior. As the Yankees’ primary center fielder, Gardner had a career high 609 plate appearances, leading off for New York, racking up 24 stolen bases and ten triples, batting .273/.344/.416. With Jacoby Ellsbury being signed in the offseason to be the new center fielder, Gardner will likely slide over to left field with Ichiro manning right.
