Arbitration: Chase Headley and Padres come to terms

Franchise third baseman for the Padres, Chase Headley, avoided arbitration with the club today, according to Joel Sherman.

Chase will earn $10.525 million in his 8th year with San Diego. Last season, he earned $8.575 million, playing in 141 games and amassing 600 plate appearances. He batted at .250/.347/.400 in a season that saw him try to live up to his previous year’s merits as a Gold Glove third baseman and Silver Slugger. Headley has been the topic of several extension rumors, but it’s no doubt that this past season hurt his standings.
