Arbitration: Giants avoid hearings with Gregor Blanco, Tony Abreu

The San Francisco Giants took care of two potential arbitration hearings by reaching deals with Gregor Blanco and Tony Abreu.

Joel Sherman reports that Blanco, who has experience at all three outfield positions, but will probably see more time in center and left field, will earn $2.525 million, up from $1.35 million in 2013. Going into his age-30 season, Blanco came off of a 2013 in which he played in 141 games, and batted .265/.341/.350.

Tony Abreu, acquired off of waivers from the Kansas City Royals by the Giants before 2013 season, will earn $745,000, up from $498,000 last season. Spending time at second, short, and third base last year over 53 games, Abreu hit .268/.301/.442 as the utility infielder/pinch hitter.
