Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times (@TBTimes_Rays) confirms that the Rays and outfielder Matt Joyce have reached a deal avoiding arbitration.
Joyce, who plays both left and right field, will make $3.7 million going into his age-29 season. He made $2.45 million in 2013.
Over 140 games for Tampa Bay, Joyce compiled a .235/.328/.419 with 18 homers and 47 RBI. With reigning Rookie of the Year Wil Myers manning right field, Joyce figures to be the starting left fielder for Tampa Bay.
