When the Miami Heat had three free agents collude to sign together with their team, the Big 3 of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh was born. From that point forward, teams were putting an emphasis on combining superstar free agents on their teams like never before, but up in Portland the Trail Blazers had different ideas.

Obviously, not many teams would deny themselves the chance to sign LeBron James, but the Blazers saw that they weren’t a market that was going to attract a big free agent like LeBron, so they decided to create their own Big 3 from scratch. Portland didn’t stitch together some Frankenstein Big 3, rather they groomed one with existing players and new young stars.

For their patience, the Blazers have been gifted with the revived talents of LaMarcus Aldridge, Nicolas Batum and the young skills of Damian Lillard. According to CSNNW.com’s Chis Haynes, all three players are having such a fun time playing together that they’ve all discussed signing long-term in Portland.

This is great news for Blazers’ fans, as they’ve had teams in the past who were almost good enough to compete but something always seemed to hold them back. They now have one of the most exciting teams to watch in basketball, and fans are hoping the fun continues for a very long time.
