Nearly two months after he left his long-time post as the head coach of the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, Jim Grobe is reportedly set to interview or the vacant UAB job, according to AL.com.
Grobe spent 13 seasons at the helm at Wake Forest, and even did the improbable, leading the team to an ACC Championship and Orange Bowl berth back in 2006.
Throughout his entire tenure at the North Carolina institution, Grobe compiled a record of 77-82.
UAB is frantically looking for a new coach after Garrick McGee abruptly up and left last week to become the offensive coordinator for Bobby Petrino at Louisville.
The move would make sense for the school, seeing as they could really use some stability at the moment and Grobe would definitely be the man to provide that, but it’s still puzzling that this is the best opportunity out there for him.
While it may have happened and we just don’t know about it yet, it’s surprising that Vanderbilt hasn’t made a run to get Grobe.
