HBO GO Coming to PS3, PS4 to Follow Soon

Earlier today, HBO and PlayStation announced a partnership that will bring the network’s HBO GO app to PlayStation 3, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow.

According to the PlayStation Blog, HBO CEO Richard Plepler made the announcement at the inaugural Buzzfeed Brews event in NYC.

Now, for those of you who are unfamiliar with the HBO GO service, it is probably the most comprehensive, end all be all source for HBO content. While some episodes of some of your favorite HBO shows may be available on demand through your cable or satellite service provider, HBO GO takes it a step further.

With the HBO GO app, you can watch every single episode of your favorite HBO series like True Blood, Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Eastbound & Down, Girls, one of the newest HBO series True Detective, The Newsroom, and even classics you love like The Sopranos.

You can also watch blockbuster movies, the latest HBO comedy specials, sporting events, documentaries, and more. All of this is at the touch of your finger, or the click of your mouse.

I think it is also an interesting point to mention, for those of you who have the new Google Chromecast, you can shoot HBO GO from your phone, tablet, or computer straight to your television and get the same experience as watching it for the very first time.

Now, in order for you to use the HBO GO app, you must have an HBO subscription in order to access the content within HBO GO. (You knew there had to be a catch in there somewhere, right?)

During the announcement, they did not mention a specific date in which the app would become available for the PlayStation 3 systems, only that the app would first hit PlayStation 3, with a PlayStation 4 version to follow.

We will keep you updated on the situation as soon as more details become readily available.
