Louisville guard Chris Jones likely out Saturday vs. UConn

Still battling an oblique injury, Louisville Cardinals junior guard Chris Jones will likely miss his second straight game against the UConn Huskies this Saturday, according to the Louisville Courier-Journal.

Jones was absent for this past Thursday’s win over the Houston Cougars, and his duties were handled by freshman Terry Rozier, who all-in-all, didn’t have a bad performance by any stretch of the imagination. He didn’t shoot the ball particularly sell, going just 3-for-10, but he handled the ball with relative ease and committed only one turnover.

However, this Saturday against UConn will be a much different animal than Houston was. The Huskies are a much better team defensively, so Rozier will need to step the game up that much more as he leads the 18th-ranked Cardinals.

Rick Pitino hasn’t given a timetable yet for Jones’ return, and it’s unlikely that he will before Saturday’s game.

Jones was the top-rated JUCO player coming out last season and has averaged 11.3 points and 2.9 assists per game for the defending champion Cardinals in his first year.
