Tennessee Titans linebacker Akeem Ayers had an injury scare during the preseason, but that didn’t stop him from playing in all 16 games for the team this season. Ayers finished the year with 49 tackles, a sack, forced fumble and interception, but apparently he was only playing on one good leg.

On Friday, Ayers took to social media to announce that he played the entire season on a bum knee and needed to have offseason surgery to fix the issue.

There are no details on what injury Ayers played through in 2013, but they will likely surface soon enough.

The next obstacle for Ayers will be making sure that he is healthy enough to fully participate in organized team activities and training camp with the Titans after the new league year begins. That will all depend on the severity of his injury and surgery and the timetable that is set for his recovery.
