Brian Shaw: Nuggets’ loss to Cavaliers takes away win over Warriors

Isaiah J. Downing-USA TODAY Sports

The Denver Nuggets played their best basketball of the season on national TV Wednesday night, defeating the Golden State Warriors on the road by a final score of 123-116.

Unfortunately for them, that win was sandwiched between a loss to the Utah Jazz and then a home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers Friday night by a final of 117-109.

Shaw put the loss in the context of its surrounding games, saying that it was so bad that it essentially undid the victory over Golden State. Per Raj Sharan of ESPN Denver:

When asked about the decision to give the team a day off this week, Shaw still felt that was the right call for health reasons:

Now 20-19 on the season, the Nuggets have become a team of streaks that still lacks an identity. That might simply come with the transition to a new coaching staff. It was interesting to hear Shaw link to this the other games on the schedule rather than recycling the “one game at a time” cliche.
