Buccaneers to hire George Warhop

George Warhop

The Cleveland Browns staff exodus continues, with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hiring the team’s longest tenured assistant. George Warhop has been added as the Bucs new offensive line coach.

Warhop had coached the Browns offensive line since 2009, under three different head coaches, Eric Mangini (2009-10), Pat Shurmer (2011-12) and Rob Chudzinski (2013). He will now join the staff of Lovie Smith, who will hope to last longer than Warhop’s previous head coaches.

Before joining the Browns Warhop spent time as offensive line coach with the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals. He was assistant offensive line coach with the St Louis Rams.

Whoever the Browns find to fill their head coaching position won’t have to worry about firing any of Rob Chudzinski’s assistants, with many of them moving on to new roles, including Ray Horton joining the Tennessee Titans.
