Detroit Lions name Ron Prince assistant head coach
By Josh Sanchez
Rutgers Scarlet Knights offensive coordinator Ron Prince was one of the candidates to become the team’s offensive coordinator under new head coach Jim Caldwell. While it was announced on Saturday morning that Prince has joined the staff.
However, he did not get the coordinator gig as many had imagined.
Instead, Prince was brought on to serve as assistant head coach to Caldwell. In addition to his role as the assistant head coach, Prince will coach the team’s tight ends.
Prince and Caldwell previously worked together on the Indianapolis Colts coaching staff, when Prince served as the offensive line coach. He will now take on a bigger role and be one of Caldwell’s go-to guys on the staff.
In the meantime, the search for Detroit’s new offensive coordinator will continue.
