After his NFL career ams to an abrupt and severely premature end, running back Jahvid Best is returning to football the only way he can — on the sidelines. According to GoldenBearReport.com, Best will be joining his alma mater and hop onboard the Bears’ coaching staff in the role of an student assistant coach.
Best is expected to help out running backs coach Pierre Ingram and be his assistant for this upcoming college football season. Best made a name for himself at Cal where he turned himself into a first-round draft pick for the Detroit Lions. He also managed to turn his brain into something he must now forever be concerned about, as the multiple concussions he’s sustained in his career have led to his early retirement from pro football.
But it’s great to see Best getting into the coaching game, as this could be the start of a career that takes him back to the NFL and back the sidelines he dreamed of reaching when he was original at Cal a few years ago.
