Martin St. Louis and Joe Pavelski got into a shootout in the San Jose Sharks 5-4 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Both players netted hat tricks, with St Louis scoring all four of his teams goals, scored from six shots on target. Pavelski scored his triple from five shots.
The game was supposed to be a tight battle between two teams looking to position for postseason positions before the break for the Winter Olympics, but became a high scoring battle that saw the Sharks trailing 4-2 before Pavelski went on his scoring run in the second period.
While the goals will take many of the headlines, Patrick Marleau picked up a goal and two assists as part of a strong supporting performance.
