Liverpool has fallen behind a bit in the Premier League table. They’re still in the thick of the race and in the number four spot competing for a Champions League berth. Simon Mignolet, Liverpool’s goal keeper, has made a few mistakes in recent weeks, but Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is supporting him regardless.

“The fact is that Simon has been a wonderful capture for us,” Rodgers said, via Sky Sports. ”Okay, people will maybe look at a few of mistakes Simon has made but I just think it’s normal for a keeper to make mistakes.

“I remember listening to Bob Wilson once who said expect a top keeper to make maybe 70 mistakes a season. If you think Simon is on three then he’s done all right.

“His attitude has been excellent and the saves he has made for us have been exceptional. There will be one or two areas he will maybe be disappointed with, but I will always take an honest mistake from someone who is working tirelessly to be the best they can be.”
