MLB Trade Rumors: Chicago Cubs 'not done' making moves

The Chicago Cubs currently have a bid in on free agent pitcher Masahiro Tanaka, but general manager Theo Epstein says the team isn’t done with offseason moves.

Per Gordon Wittenmyer:

Theo says club not done this winter. (Obviously has offer in to Tanaka and needs another pitchers either way)

The Cubs have a decent amount of holes to fill and would stand well served to add another pitcher in addition to a signing of Tanaka, which by no stretch is a given at this point. Of course, I’m not sure it would be overly wise to commit to an aging arm like Bronson Arroyo or a player like Ervin Santana with draft pick compensation attached, but the Cubs still need some heavy work to do at the Major League level.

Thankfully, Chicago’s farm system (especially offensively) has plenty of talent coming up so the team will be able to compete in the coming years in addition to having trade pieces if needed – all of this in a completely remodeled Wrigley Field.
