It’s been a crazy few years for Houston Rockets big man Dwight Howard.
The center, who reportedly requested a trade from the Orlando Magic in 2012 recently told Basketball Insiders that he was ‘promised’ a trade to the Brooklyn Nets but the deal never manifested.
“I thought the Brooklyn thing was going to come through at the end of the season,” Howard said of a potential trade to the Nets. “It was something that was promised, but it didn’t happen. Once it didn’t happen I figured everything happens for a reason. I just let it go. I was upset for a while, but I just let it go.”
Howard of course was sent to the Los Angeles Lakers instead and played through a rough season in Hollywood before signing with the Houston Rockets this past offseason.
The Nets had hoped to pair Howard with Joe Johnson who they had acquired earlier in the 2012 season.
Instead, Brooklyn went 49-33 and advanced to the playoffs though suffered a first round postseason loss.
All spilled milk now, of course.
