When you think of iconic hamburgers, you likely think of McDonald’s and their ‘Big Mac’. You also probably think of a few others, maybe the ‘Double-Double’ from In-N-Out or the ‘Whopper’ from Burger King.

But what about the Slider from White Castle? Maybe it’s not at the top of your list, but it does top Time Magazine’s who deemed it as the most influential burger of all time recently.

Via the Huffington Post:

Time magazine says White Castle’s small, square “sliders” are “the most influential burger of all time.”

The magazine notes the “now-iconic square patty” that debuted in 1921 in Wichita, Kan. was the first burger to spawn a fast-food empire. White Castle has been based in Columbus since 1934.

McDonald’s ranked as the second most influential with In-N-Out coming in third. Other popular choices like Burger King ranked fifth and Shake Shack came in seventh.

Fans however had a different opinion from Time Magazine, voting In-N-Out’s burger as the most influential of all-time with Burger King’s ‘Whopper’ and White Castle’s ‘Slider’ rounding out the top three.
