The Minnesota Wild have been without star Zach Parise for 13 games now as he remains on IR with a foot injury. But while the team is trying to stay in the playoff hunt without him, it appears that Parise is close to returning to the Wild lineup very soon.
According to Star Tribune Wild beat writer Michael Russo, Parise is expected to start intensifying his practices with the team this week and may even return as soon as Thursday.
Left winger Zach Parise, who has missed 13 games because of a broken foot, said he might begin ramping it up during Monday’s practice by taking contact and getting into more game like situations. The soonest Parise likely would return is Thursday against Chicago or Saturday at San Jose.
The Wild haven’t had Parise since he went on IR in late December, which means he has yet to take the ice with the team in 2014. While Thursday is the date that Parise is expected to try and make a return, don’t expect the Wild to rush his return.
Part of the reason he had to go on IR was due to the fact he was playing with the foot injury. Minnesota needs Parise healthy to have any shot at a Stanley Cup run this year, so rushing him back isn’t in the plans.
