One of the most popular snowboarders has earned another spot on the United States Olympic team for next month’s Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Shaun White won the final selection event in Mammoth Mountain, Calif. on Sunday to clinch his place on the snowboard halfpipe team.
White will also be on the USA slopestyle team and he hopes to bring home the gold for the United States in both events.
“It was a long [week], but I made the team,” White said, via NBC’s Olympic Talk. “I’m pretty happy. It’s everything I could have hoped for.
“I’m one of the only guys doing both [halfpipe and slopestyle]. Juggling the two has been out of hand. It’s really demanding to switch gears and do both, but I’m doing it. I’m making my way.”
White will be joined by Taylor Gold, whose younger sister Arielle made the women’s halfpipe team earlier on Sunday, Danny Davis and Greg Bretz on the halfpipeteam.
