I don’t know where this reference began, but I do know that it’s awesome.
During a recent NBDL (National Basketball Developmental League) game between the Austin Toros and the Texas Legends, former NBA player Devin Ebanks (who began the season with the Dallas Mavericks) threw down a nasty dunk. So nasty in fact, Legends announcer Michael Eric couldn’t contain himself and blurted out ‘Mom’s spaghetti’ after the flush.
Was this a reference to Eminem’s hit song, ‘Lose Yourself’? Essentially suggesting that one needed to ‘lose themselves in the moment’ due to the fantastic hammer thrown down by Ebanks? Seems that way and apparently it’s a regular saying of Eric who is about to blow up on a viral scale in the coming days.
It may not be another ‘boom goes the dynamite’ success but ‘Mom’s spaghetti’ may have just become the next big sports catch phrase – at least for a few more weeks.
Also – anybody constantly hitting repeat at the :05 second mark of the video? Uh, yeah, me either.
